Deborah H. Johnson

Deborah H. Johnson is a nationally recognized speaker and consultant on adoption and diversity issues. Her expertise is based on experiences both personal and professional.
As a diversity consultant she works with universities, businesses and agencies to address the issues of racism and discrimination in the workplace. She has also worked extensively with adoptive parents, adoptees and adoption professionals for over 18 years. She has written and consulted on curriculum materials for culture camps, schools, agencies and support groups.
Johnson has been featured on several television specials and radio programs on adoption. She has also collaborated on a number of videos and articles addressing racism and transracial adoption, developing racial identity/self-esteem in children of color and the developmental stages of adopted children.
Johnson is a past president of Adoptive Families of America and, most recently, served on the Board of Directors of the North American Council on Adoptable Children and KAAN (Korean American Adoptee Adoptive Family Network). She travels regularly to Korea and other countries with the Ties Homeland Tour program assisting families as they explore the country and the adoptees' history and roots.
She is currently the Executive Director of the Minnesota Adoption Resource Network.
